Congratulations to our new Kyoshi Gill – awarded 7th Dan on 13th October 2020.
I am delighted to welcome you to our website.
Middlesex Shotokan Karate is a family friendly club dedicated to providing high quality training to adults and children (from age 5) since 1980. We take pride in serving our local community and warmly invite new members of all levels ranging from beginners to Dan grades.
Self-defence, discipline, resilience, health and fitness are at the core of our teaching as well as our commitment to ensure our students thrive, achieve and enjoy their time as members of our club. Our team of excellent instructors (DBS checked and First Aid trained) follow these key principals to ensure all lessons are delivered with consistency.
The sessions bring together the traditional discipline of Shotokan Karate and effective fitness development for all of our students. Respect for our peers and conflict resolution are key principles that are instilled in all our pupils.
Outlined in our syllabus, we focus on teaching basic techniques (Kihon), pre-arranged sparring (Kumite) and forms (Kata) with great emphasis on the application of the techniques (Bunkai). This combined approach fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation in our students.
Opportunities to measure individual progress can be completed at a grading session which takes place every 3,6 and 12 month intervals. Different coloured belts are awarded for each level.
“The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants”
